Paint Techniques


We can provide a specialist paint effect service which covers all traditional and modern techniques.  In addition to City and Guilds qualifications we have also obtained further specialist qualifications obtained from the National Design Academy covering specialist paint techniques. This, allied to over 25 years experience in this field enable us to provide innovative and inspirational paint techniques that set us apart.

Rag rolling
A traditional method using 2 or more colours to give a marble finish to walls or furniture such as bedroom furniture, bathroom or kitchen cabinets.  The beauty of this finish is that exact colours can be achieved to enhance accompanying accessories.

Sponging
A traditional paint effect achieved by using a traditional sea sponge with 2 or more colours to give a unique effect.  Ideal for walls, bedroom furniture, bathroom or kitchen cabinets.

Colour washing
A traditional broken paint effect achieved by using simple colour washes generally applied to wall surfaces.

Drag painting
A traditional and stunning effect achieved by using a variety of brushes and combs to give a lined appearance.  Ideal for cabinet furniture.

Faux Marbling
One of the most original paint effects achieved by mixing and using a variety of colours which achieve a marble effect.  Ideal for fire places, stone work, cornice and decorative pillars.

Graining
A traditional paint effect which achieves the appearance of various different wood effects created by oils and various stains.  Ideal for doors, frames and skirting boards to give that realistic wood effect.

Liming
A more modern technique which achieves a limed wood effect.   Ideal for kitchen cabinets, bedroom and other furniture.

Gold Leaf
A traditional very grand technique used for highlighting decorative cornicing and moulding.
